The Cuddrireddra of Delia:

Sicilian gastronomy has its roots in land's culture. The “heart” of the island and particularly the little town of Delia, in the province of Caltanissetta, gives us a cookie with unique characteristics of taste, shape and texture.
This recipe has been passed to us since very long time and is a dessert which has become a concentration on history, tradition and paesant authenticity. Each Cuddrireddra is “built” through handicraft art, simple and natural ingredients, in order to obtain a little woven crown with an unique taste.
We think that the cookie went back to the Middle Ages when the women of the little town paid one's respects to the chatelaines that lived in the castle of Delia with these cookies. Besides the most elderly persons of the little town remember that their grandmother and later on also the mother, prepared this cookie in the festivity of Carnival.

 

The Cuddrireddra of Delia is without conservants. Period of expiration: 6 months approximately.

Wheat flour, sugar, eggs, lard, red wine, cinnamon, orange peel. Fried in oil.
